The Cold Snap is a weapon in Rift Apart. It is a cannon that fires an explosive block of ice that freezes any enemy in it's blast radius. A frozen enemy will themselves be trapped in a block of ice, which upon coming into contact with nearby enemies, will freeze them also. The frozen enemy will take more damage.
The weapon can be purchased from Mrs. Zurkon upon reaching Kedaro Station, Cordelion for 20,000 bolts. At level 5, it upgrades to the Cold Front. In challenge mode, the Omega Cold Front can be purchased for 340,000 bolts.

The Cold Snap will freeze an enemy it hits in an ice cube for a duration. This ice cube will slide along the floor, and may hit nearby enemies to also freeze them. Enemies that are frozen can be destroyed with other weapons while they are frozen, and will receive more damage from Ratchet or Rivet's weapons. Additionally, an easy way to dispatch them quickly is to hit them off a cliff edge. The weapon can be used to great effect against mobs of swarmers, but is generally best at freezing single targets.
Raritanium upgrades can improve the damage dealt to frozen enemies, as well as the bolts yielded by them, and the length of time they are frozen for. This can make the weapon more useful once invested in.
Once fully upgraded with XP, it becomes the Cold Front, which creates a persistent area of effect cloud that freezes any enemy that enters its radius, causing it to become more effective at freezing enemies that managed to avoid the initial blast. A major drawback of the weapon is that, in freezing enemies, it serves a similar role to the Topiary Sprinkler while requiring manual input and not being automated. The Cold Snap's main benefit over the Topiary Sprinkler is in causing enemies to be much more vulnerable to damage from other sources, meaning it still has use at slowing more powerful foes and bosses before hitting them with other weapons.
The Cold Snap is required for the bronze trophy "Icebreaker", wherein the player must use the weapon to freeze five enemies and hit them with a melee attack (from the wrench or hammer).
