The CodeBot is an item in Ratchet & Clank. It is a small robot which allows Ratchet to open "invinco-vaults"[1], of which only one is present in the game on planet Quartu. Screwing the CodeBot into the vault on the side of a door allowed Ratchet to obtain a gold bolt inside. The CodeBot is found in Drek's fleet in the Veldin orbit after swimming past underwater security that is located close to the ship Ratchet lands in. After swimming through, Ratchet obtains the CodeBot at the end, completing the "Swim through the water tanker" mission.

Behind the scenes

The CodeBot was originally planned to have a greater function than was present in the final game, though time constraints meant that it only opened a single door to find a gold bolt in the final game.[2]

CodeBots slightly resemble the battery bots first introduced in A Crack in Time.
