The CodeBot is an item in Ratchet & Clank. It is a small robot used to open "invinco-vaults"[1], of which only one is present in the game, on planet Quartu. The CodeBot was found by Ratchet in Drek's fleet in the Veldin orbit after he swam past underwater security located close to the ship he landed in, completing the "Swim through the water tanker" mission. On Quartu, screwing the CodeBot into the vault on the side of a door would allow Ratchet to obtain a gold bolt inside.

The CodeBot was originally planned to have a greater function than was present in the final game, though time constraints meant that it could only open a single door to find a gold bolt.[2]
If the player breaks any of the crates in the "invinco-vault" room on Quartu, a bolt increase of 15,000 will occur. This bug was never fixed in the PlayStation 2, 3, or Vita versions. It is present in both PAL and NTSC copies of the PlayStation 2 version, as well as the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions since they use the NTSC version.
