The Blackhole Storm is a weapon in Rift Apart. It is a Gatling gun that rapidly fires projectiles with a medium range, making it useful for mowing down small enemies or whittling away at the health of bosses or larger enemies when used up close.

The weapon can be purchased from Mrs. Zurkon on Outpost L51, Sargasso upon returning during "Stop the Emperor's Invasion" for 35,000 bolts. At level 5, it upgrades to the Blackhole Vortex. In challenge mode, the Omega Blackhole Vortex can be purchased for 700,000 bolts.

Gameplay[]

Pulling R2 partway causes it to fire slowly, while pulling R2 fully will cause it to rapid-fire fully. The weapon eats through ammo fairly quickly, and takes a short amount of time to charge before reaching full speed. This means it is important to aim the weapon to avoid wasting ammo. Aside from this, its biggest shortcoming is its relative short range, meaning it can only be used against enemies when fairly close to them. However, this aside, it's extremely powerful and can deal a huge amount of damage in a short time. It can also be used very well with the Topiary Sprinkler or Cold Snap; by locking an enemy in place, they become vulnerable to the Blackhole Storm to deal immense damage to them shortly after.

The raritanium upgrades to the weapon improve its basic functionality and ability to spread its damage to multiple enemies. However, the most important upgrade for the weapon is improving its max ammo, due to how quickly it eats through ammo. This can improve it to a maximum of 495, a vast improvement over the base 300 ammo.

Once fully upgraded with XP, it becomes the Blackhole Vortex, which gives the weapon the ability to cause enemies killed to erupt into a small vortex that explodes and deals damage to any enemy nearby. Though the weapon is limited by its range, it still enjoys a great amount of versatility, being useful against mobs of enemies as well as against larger targets. The Blackhole Storm remains useful throughout the game, though the Warmonger may be better at dealing high damage to enemies further away, while the RYNO 8 is better against groups of enemies.
