The Bernilius Sector is a sector of the Polaris Galaxy featured in A Crack in Time. It is one of five sectors of the Breegus System. The sector is home to the valkyrie planet Vapedia, the Nefarious Space Station, as well as five moons.
History[]
The valkyries arrived on Vapedia after a three-decade pilgrimage following the destruction of their colony. After arriving there, all male valkyries were banished for failing to ask for directions.[1]
The Nefarious Space Station was built and designed by Pollyx Industries, and served as Dr. Nefarious' home since he left Zanifar.[1] The valkyries aligned with Dr. Nefarious after he promised to use the Great Clock to bring back the valkyrie colony.[2]
Ratchet and Alister Azimuth came to the sector to retrieve Clank, who was held on Vapedia after Clank's use was served in the Great Clock. They successfully did so and defeated both Carina and Cassiopeia, and then Ratchet, Clank, and Captain Qwark launched an attack on the Nefarious Space Station.
While in the sector, Ratchet helped out a few locals. In "Defend the Terachnoid Convoy", Ratchet helped a convoy of terachnoids in brainship Gamma-Epsilon-Epsilon-Kappa who were on their way to attend the Polaris Holo-Con.[3] In "Destroy 3 Spy Satellites", he helped the Smuggler by destroying Nefarious' spy satellites, allowing the Smuggler to continue his activities in the sector.[4]

A total of four Zoni and two gold bolts can be found across the six moons within the sector, as well as two Constructo mods.
Bernilius Alpha[]
Bernilius Alpha is a moon with a frigid sea covering most of its surface. It is home only to blue Breegus wasps. It has a lot of platforms suspended in the air, with a series of them moving around its orbit in a fixed pattern. The orbital platforms can be reached with spring pads and are to be used to reach the isolated larger platforms. Both a Zoni and a gold bolt can be found here, the former at the end of the natural path, the other on a lone platform at sea level.
Bernilius Beta[]
Bernilius Beta is a desert moon covered in quicksand. It features only a small scattering of islands and rock outcroppings, next to a few platforms that are all only connected through teleporters. The platforms also contain warp platforms that spawn Splitterbots and Protoguards. The only other inhabitants are green Breegus wasps. At the end of the path is a Zoni.
Bernilius Delta[]
Bernilius Delta is a moon with a glacial sea. Its only inhabitants are Splitterbots and Protoguards. While it features a lot of Meteor Pads and spring pads, its primary platforming puzzle is platforms that repeatedly phase in and out of reality, requiring precise timing to safely make it across. At the end, a single Zoni can be found.
Bernilius Gamma[]
Bernilius Gamma is a moon covered mostly by an ice-cold sea and surrounded by large ice crystals, some of which orbit it. Its only population is a handful of Splitterbots, Protoguards, and Cyclobombers. The primary platforming challenge involves using floating platforms high in the air to make it across large distances, all the while dodging the orbiting ice crystals. Both a Zoni and a gold bolt can be found here, the former at the end of the natural path, the other on a lone island at sea level.
Bernilius Sigma[]
Bernilius Sigma is a metal moon inhabited only by Splitterbots. All forty have to be destroyed to receive the Perforator Upgrade for the Constructo Shotgun.
Bernilius Tau[]
Bernilius Tau is a metal moon inhabited only by Protoguards. All thirty have to be defeated to gain the Toxic Upgrade mod for the Constructo Bomb. Keep in mind at least a few are located on the tall platforms that can only be reached via spring pads.
Space missions[]
Destroy 3 Spy Satellites[]
"Destroy 3 Spy Satellites" is a mission assigned by the Smuggler upon accepting his request after hailing his ship. He requires all three security satellites in the sector to be destroyed. Each satellite is protected by a force of fighters, thirty of which must be taken down for the satellite's shield to go down as well.
The fighters are weak individually, but are equipped with flares making missiles ineffective. The mine layers also come equipped with shield generators now. Note that satellites respawn upon leaving the sector or after death, so it is best to defeat them all in one go.
Defend the Terachnoid Convoy[]
"Defend the Terachnoid Convoy" can be started by hailing the three white ships close by Bernilius Delta. The terachnoid pilots request assistance due to an attack by the valkyries. Upon accepting, they will appear immediately, and twenty valkyries have to be destroyed for the hostile ships to retreat, allowing the terachnoids to pass by unmolested, leaving a reward of 12,000 bolts.
