Beam Turrets are enemies in Deadlocked. They are fought in Vox Industries' DreadZone gameshow and first appear in Kronos' "Night Flight" and "Dark City Arenas" challenges, and from then on are a recurring enemy in multiple tournaments and battlecourses. They are typically either placed on fixed locations beforehand or dropped in from above during the midst of combat.
From afar, they only appear as a triangular pad on the floor, with an entirely black top except for the rim. The turret itself rises up out of the pad when any target approaches close enough. The turrets can actually vary in size ranging from Ratchet's, to about twice as big, though both share the same health and damage.
Gameplay[]
Due to the way the turrets only pop out when close enough, the player is forced to engage them from nearby. When active, they immediately begin charging their laser, which is then discharged shortly after, with the turret slowly sweeping the laser towards any player who attempts to strafe it. It cannot do so very quickly, meaning a player who dodged the initial hit is largely safe. From there on it is possible to a safe distance (as the laser stops at a fixed range), or destroy it before it can continue firing.
Like other turrets, it cannot be slowed down using the Freeze Mod, but heavy attacks do sometimes cause them to spin out of control for a moment, disrupting their charging. Due to this, the Scorpion Flail is generally the best weapon to use, due to its range, rate of fire, area of effect, and damage output allowing it to destroy the turrets quickly enough while also stunning them and simultaneously being able to handle other nearby foes.
