Bases are a recurring gameplay element in the Ratchet & Clank series. These fortified structures serve as the starting location for competing teams. Along with nodes, they are a common gameplay element in the Ratchet & Clank series' multiplayer modes. Both nodes and bases are common capture objectives for teams, with the latter being the ultimate goal and deciding factor of a round. This objective is also present in some single-player levels.
Appearances[]
Up Your Arsenal[]

The first appearance of bases as a gameplay mechanic was in Up Your Arsenal, which introduced them in the game's multiplayer mode. Many of these multiplayer maps also appeared in the single-player mode as Galactic Rangers missions. Specifically, in Operation: ISLAND STRIKE, Operation: BLACK TIDE, and Operation: DEATH VALLEY, Ratchet and Clank led the Galactic Rangers through a series of missions that culminated in a final mission where the two defeated a tyhrranoid base.
In multiplayer, bases are central to the Siege and Capture the Flag modes. In Siege, two teams each have a base, protected by gatling turrets and various defenses (which differ depending on whether the team is red or blue). The objective is to destroy these defenses, teleport inside the base, and then destroy the power core. In Capture the Flag, the objective is to obtain an opposing team's flag and return it to their own base.
The multiplayer map Command Center solely consists of the interior of a base.
Full Frontal Assault[]

Bases are a major mechanic in Full Frontal Assault, appearing in both its single-player and multiplayer modes. In single-player, the player starts in their base on each planet, which has six generators. These generators must be protected from grungarian marauders, both by the players themselves and by purchasing defenses with bolts to protect the bases. The objective on each planet is to protect the base while reactivating the Planetary Defense Center. Bases are always guarded by two (or one, if playing in co-op) Q-Force members manning a turret.
In the multiplayer mode, two opposing teams each have a base. Teams must purchase defenses for their base by capturing nodes around the map to earn bolts, and then use these bolts to purchase units to attack the opposing team's base with the goal of destroying the enemy base's generators. Players can also buy upgrades for their base, including more build pads and generators that automatically damage nearby foes.
