Mayor Barnabus Worley is a character in Quest for Booty. He is the mayor of the hoolefoids of Hoolefar Island on planet Merdegraw. Mayor Worley helped Ratchet and Talwyn Apogee's quest to find Clank by pointing them to the Obsidian Eye, a powerful telescope built by Angstrom Darkwater to reach the Zoni.

History[]

Mayor Worley was in office when Hoolefar Island was sabotaged. The saboteur took down the island's wind turbines and the supply beacon, and stole rare items from some hoolefoids, leading to constituents complaining about his performance as mayor.[1]

When Ratchet and Talwyn arrived in "Explore Hoolefar Island", Mayor Worley greeted them. Though unable to help them find Darkwater, he promised to find a means to contact Clank if they would bring the supply beacon back. After repairing the wind turbines and fixing the supply beacon, the two found the mayor again who showed them the Obsidian Eye. He told them it required a Fulcrum Star and showed pages from Darkwater's journal, before they were on their way.[2]

After Ratchet and Talwyn returned from Morrow Caverns to warn Mayor Worley of the incoming undead pirate attacks, it had already arrived. Ratchet and Talwyn fought back against the pirates, with the mayor only able to help by activating the BS-33 Omegatron Defensive Station.[3]

Characteristics[]

Baranabus Worley has a larger, rounder appearance compared to other hoolefoids.

Mayor Barnabus Worley is a generally friendly and trusting individual who greeted Ratchet and Talwyn warmly. He is also jovial and lighthearted, making jokes about Ratchet's first greeting.[1] Compared to other hoolefoids, Mayor Worley is much less superstitious, describing the Darkwater curse and the existence of Darkwater Cove as a myth.[4]

Mayor Worley appears to be relatively ineffective. His constituents have complained about his inaction and described him as a "poor excuse for a mayor",[1] later asking Ratchet to run for the office.[5] Given that Worley asked Ratchet and Talwyn, two strangers, to fix the turbines for him,[6] and contributed little to defending against the pirate invasion short of activating the defense station,[3] there may be merit to their complaints.
