These are challenges available to the contestants of DreadZone in the Catacrom Graveyard on Catacrom Four in Deadlocked. This planet and its challenges come directly after the Marauder Tournament, and will provide the necessary Dread Points and green medal for the planet Sarathos, as well as the Hacker Ray gadget for the combat bots. The DreadZone vendor will have the Holoshield Launcher weapon and Napalm Mod available as well. The former throws up a wide barrier that blocks enemies and attack, while allowing you to shoot through it, whereas the latter lets explosive weapons splatter the ground at the impact area with lava, damaging enemies on touch.

Challenges[]

Valley of Heroes[]

The first challenge is quite short and easy, as you only have to deal with a few Blade Balls and DZ Strikers, and a lone 70 millimeter Stalker Turret. Disable the turret with an EMP Grenade and subsequently destroy it. Have your combat bots use the tool again on the electrified platforms at the end, then use the jump pad to reach the top of the cliff.

On the Prowl[]

In this challenge you must turn three bolt cranks, then cross a bridge to reach the new Landstalker vehicle at the other side of the area. Start by purchasing the B6-Obliterator if you have not yet, as well as the Acid Mod for some extra bonus damage. Although the B6-obliterator is powerful it is severely lacking in ammunition capacity. The central area of the first part of the arena is infested with robot zombies, sturdy melee enemies that will either crawl, shamble, or run towards you. Be careful as they climb out of the ground and can thus sneak up on you, and on Hero difficulty they can even withstand a single B6 blast, although it is still effective against groups. The Magma Cannon is the most effective for now due to its power and innate knockback capabilities.

The bolt cranks that must be turned are on your left, to the right, and up ahead through a tunnel. Each of them causes enemies to spawn nearby (robot zombies on the left, Tri-Spike Swarmers on the right, and a dropship for the last one), but thankfully you can order a combat bot to turn them on, leaving you to deal with the new spawns. Keep in mind there are skill points, such as "Crank It Up" for turning two of them yourself.

While going for all the nodes make sure to find and break all five jackpot crates worth 1,000 bolts each. Two of these are available prior to the bridge, and two more after it, with the fifth being all the way at the end past the Swingshot target. Otherwise this area has some minor enemy resistance but nothing notable.

All Aboard the Landstalker[]

The Landstalker is a large spider tank equipped with laser cannons and powerful mortars. The former are sufficient for lone enemies, but the chargeable mortars are required to destroy the quasar orbs, other Stalker Turrets, and dropships. The Landstalker being a tank it can withstand a lot of damage, but you should still rely on the range, power, and homing function of the mortars to destroy dangerous enemies like the Stalker Turrets as soon as possible. Other than that, make your way up the slope to the center of the Catacrom Burial Dome to finish the challenge.

Rise Up[]

Before starting this last challenge you should select either of the first two again and purchase either the Holoshield Launcher or Napalm Mod, although the latter is more useful here. Equip it on the B6-Obliterator, the only possible weapon, to drastically increase its deadliness against the robot zombies. Focus on using the Dual Vipers and Magma Cannon against lone zombies, but switch to the B6 when the second round starts as the entire central area will be instantly surrounded. Round 3, 4, and 5 will see much of the same happening, so keep moving and be careful for any Zombies that appear too close to you.

Completion of "Rise Up" rewards the player character with the Hacker Ray and a green medal, with which they can attempt the next planet and its challenges, after collecting enough Dread Points by completing Dread Challenges. By now you should also have several alpha mods, although likely not enough nor enough slots on your weapons to actively need to start swapping them around.

Dread Challenges[]

Hoverbike Madness[]

This challenge introduces the hoverbike in a simple race course across the Catacrom Graveyard, both starting and ending at the Burial Dome. Use the bike's blasters and jump ability to either destroy or avoid the explosive barrels and DZ Strikers as it cannot take too much damage. Other than that this challenge is fairly simple, and although the bike is not too maneuverable, it is capable of moving laterally. Note that each ring grants you a little bit more time on the timer, although there is plenty to finish the race with.

Destruction Derby[]

This is another Landstalker challenge in which you must destroy all 66 enemies within the time limit. As with "All Aboard the Landstalker" your mortar is the most effective weapon, although you will also want to use your sidestep function to dodge the Stalker Turrets at least somewhat. Each Turret when destroyed will trigger the spawning of several more enemies, which you must also kill per the goal requirement. Note that you can order the bots to EMP any of the five Turrets if you are so inclined.

Monuments of Death[]

There is another vendor available at the start of this challenge, allowing you to purchase either the weapon or mod you have not bought yet. The goal this time is to destroy all three ancient statues. Each statue is guarded by a large amount of robot zombies, although you can handle them safely by having your bots place the explosives. Test either of your new weapon or mod on the first statue where only a few Zombies spawn to get ready for the second which sees those numbers almost double. There will be double again those numbers at the third and final statue, which makes them a prime example for the B6-Obliterator's area of effect damage.
